Dakota is a German Shepherd that we originally took in as a foster dog in from a co-worker's family in 2007 when she was about 6 years old.  She fit in well with the rest of the dogs so we ended up keeping her.  She was a big girl when she arrived and went on a crash diet, losing more than 15 pounds in a few months.  She has a lot more energy now that she's lost the extra weight and can almost keep up with Max on walks.
